Hey all ...new guy here.
I'm a new resident to the Berkshires looking for a shop to support. Is there anything north around the Deerfield? I recall an Orvis shop in Great Barrington before I moved here but it's now defunct.
Enjoying the fishing around here... I'm footsteps away from the Housatonic in Lee (although turned off a bit with the pollution) and have explored the East branch of the Westfield wih a bit of success.
Tomorrow the wife & I are headed north for a gander at the Deerfield... can't wait. Suggestions for a starting point?
Thanks all

stevensname,
No shops left in the Berkshires. B&G sporting in Westfield , Dave's Pioneer in Northampton, and Valley Sporting Goods in Easthampton are the closest in Mass. All are more comprehensive sporting shops that have a fly fishing section with only limited selection. B&G has the largest selection, and has the added bonus of being right across from the river.
I don't get to the Deerfield too often, but I usually hit the C&R sections. If you search the boards, you might find some other suggestions. Being a holiday weekend with nice weather, there will be hoards of kayakers, tubers, rafters, bathers, picnickers, etc. You also should check online for release schedules. It's a beautiful river, even with all the use it gets. Welcome to W. Mass.

... Being a holiday weekend with nice weather, there will be hoards of kayakers, tubers, rafters, bathers, picnickers, etc... It's a beautiful river, but was indeed a madhouse on Sunday. Fishing was an exercise in futility, although a good time was had and plans made for the next outing. Too bad about the shops, but in a way that's good that we're not "a draw" in that respect. I did fish in Lee today and will throw up a pic in the reports section. Thanks, Steven
