This study/document has also showed up on a prominent Wisconsin fly fishing website and also raised a few eyebrows. Nice to have imperical data that is both fascinating and lends itself well to the support of the use of barbless hooks and care in handling of fish.

I find it very interesting that the use of a net, which so many fishermen use in an effort to try to ensure a viable release, is actually often quite damaging to the sensitive areas of a fish and retards a quick release.
