Hello All,
I just stumbled across this site, as I was looking for some info on the deerfield river..... probably just like everyone else I guess ;D
Anyway, I'm going to be fishing Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, so if you see someone with NH plates, give me a holler.
I do most of my fly fishing in NH, ME and VT, but I've spent most of my summers on a little lake in Hinsdale, where my grandparents and now my parents have small cabins. I'm looking forward to exploring some new water. Any advice is welcomed, but I thought I'd just say hello.

You probably already know this, but keep in mind that the water levels will be up in the afternoon. You'll have low water Saturday morning, so get out there early and take advantage of it.
I've only fished there once during low water at the lower catch and release area where the cold river enters the deerfield. There is good water there, and below where the rr tracks cross, and above about 200 yds up along zoar rd.
I've heard good stuff about the upper catch and release but I haven't made it there yet. Are you camping out?

Thanks Marc.... I wont be there until later on Friday, so I'm hoping to catch it after the drop... then at first light on Saturday. I'm not camping this trip, I'm fortunately that my grandparents have a cabin in the area, so I'm going to crash there.
I spend a lot of nights in a tent, but a bed and home cooking are too good to pass up.
I'm interested to see if it is as good as i've heard, and also if the dreaded flows are as bad as the legend has it.

I'm hoping to get there one more time in August. I'd like to fish the upper C&R (never have done that) at dawn, and then when the water is released drive down to the lower C&R and fish for a couple more hours before the tsunami gets there.
Had I known this before, the state of Mass has a free fishing weekend in early June, and they don't release water that Sat and Sun. It would've been nice to camp there that weekend and have two full days of fishing - maybe next year. I live close to Worcester and it would take me probably 2 1/2 hours to reach the dam (meaning that its hard for a night person like me to get there at first light).
