As previously posted, I purchased the Rio Versi-tip system a couple of months back.
I'm happy to report, no hinging of any kind what so ever and casts like a rocket.
I'm looking forward to trying this out on the Fox River for Smallies. The Fox is a BIG river with relatively shallow flows and is wadeable virtually everywhere. With the multitude of sinking sections and the intermediate/neutral tips, it ought to be fun.
