Hey, how did the first set of North/South meetings go?
How was attendance, topic discussions?

The new meeting format seems to be a big hit! We had a great turn out for the new South County meeting. We sold 19 memberships at the South County Meeting and had several people volunteer to teach the Boy Scout merit badge program this spring along with our Basic Fly Fishing classes for the Public. All in all it was a big success!
Due to the South County expansion we now have members from 5 states: MA, NY, VT, CT, and IL. Not bad for a little club from Berkshire County!

We missed you, ctroy36. I'm sure you're enjoying Florida. Our meeting topic was "your favorite flies and how to fish them" I learned a lot -- Too much to sum up here -- Tying, fishing technique, why certain patterns and when, etc. Several of the folks from the Berkshire Trout Hatchery in Monterey joined us. There was discussion about having a kid’s fly fishing day at the hatchery where we would teach kids to sly cast for the monster size breeder trout. The rods that Orvis generously donated will come in handy for this. -JLIBS

Sounds great. Sorry I had to miss it -- and the next couple, too. I was skeptical of the two-meeting plan but it looks like it's the right thing to do.
I took in a meeting of the Naples Backcountry Fly Fishers this Tuesday. About 150 folks at meeting. Two speakers, one an academic on on Red Tide and area water quality; other a fishing guide who made a slide presentation on reading the water (salt water, that is.)
Keep up the good work and keep us out-of-towners posted on progress.
See you in the spring.
