I read a couple of posts on the Housy.
Anybody else getting out?
Looking for reports on the Hoosic in Adams and anything for the Deerfield.
Should be some decent hatches starting pretty soon with the warmer weather arriving.
Thanks.
Mark
(I'm wanting to get out for some Smallies but the flows are rolling hard and fast and take a while to correct. They ought to be pretty hungry...).

I made it out to the Hoosic in Adams for an hour on Tuesday. Water has come down a lot and is at a good level. Caught a few stocked bows. Also saw a few Hendricksons in the air.
The Deerfield has been very high all spring. Hoping it will come down a bit in the next week or so.

Wow, Hendricksons! Definately a April/May hatch but you don't see many any more. I'll be in the area the first week of July. Boy I can't wait... Mark

Mark,
I was in Adams today with my wife and son to watch my oldest son's baseball game. Of course we had to fish for an hour or so before the game. We didn't get any but my son turned one on a streamer. The water is dropping and is clearer than I thought it would be.
I think I might have met Joe O. I don't exactly know what he looks like other than his avitar but a nice guy peeked over the bank in work clothes to talk to me while I was in mid-stream and offered some advice on some spots on the river. Joe?

Yeah, Joe is a great guy, except when he dispenses advice to put you "off the scent". Have you ever tried the section of the Hoosic along Rt. 8 below Cheshire Harbor. PM or email me and I'll give you some spots to hit there. On my last trip I was in this one section where I caught a mix of stockers and natives, fishing a cased caddis nymph pattern and hooked up/landed 12 trout on 12 consecutive casts. I stood in that spot for about 30 minutes before that and didn't even see them within about 15' of my casting position.

Fished three times in the past two weeks.
Tried the West Branch of the Housatonic in Pittsfield and caught a 13" rainbow.
Tried the Cold River along Route 2 and got skunked. Water was cold and high.
Tried the North Branch of the Hoosic in North Adams and caught an 11" rainbow.

Been out twice for trout. Once to my "secret" river, which was cold, fast and high and I got skunked. Once to the South River, where I nearly got skunked but was saved by a little rainbow. I haven't been on the Deerfiueld below my house yet, the top of the dam in Shelburne Falls got pretty well destroyed with the big rains in March, so they aren't holding back much water, things are still high and fast. It has dropped quite a bit this week though, I may try it out this weekend. And Wednesday, I had to be down on the Cape so I got in a little casting practice, the stripers were not at my location yet.

Never fished just below the res but I'll flip you a PM next time I'm up that way. Thanks for the offer of info.
