Tuesday- Hit the Main Stem of the Westfield after work with dragonma15 (Gregg), his girlfriend Sarah, and jlibs (josh). It was the first time there for Josh and I, and Gregg was a great guide. We caught some nice rainbows- Josh and Gregg on nymphs (flashback pt, westfield river bug), me on a streamer (marabou bugger- green and orange). They were my first trout on a rod of my own building. Nice big water with caddis, sulfurs, and BIG stoneflies. Gregg got some salmon fingerlings. We also saw lamprey and adult salmon in one of the pools. Wednesday- I swallowed my pride and fished off the causeway on Onota lake after work (One of the programs I work at is on Dan Casey drive, so I couldn't resist). Caught lots of little bluegill. A pike was crashing the surface way out of reach. Does it really matter what pattern- they were bluegills Today (Friday)- Hit a beautiful little stream on the way home from work (hint- I work in Pittsfield and Live in Northampton) and caught a bunch of beautiful brookies, from 4-8 inches. There were hanging out where they were supposed to be, and seemed to enjoy a bead head grhe, a moby dick, and a little hendrickson wet fly, dead drifted or fished down and across. My first Western Mass Brookines in about 7 years. It was a great week of fishing, and one of the reasons why I moved back to Wester Mass.

Hey Jeff, Glad you had fun. Sarah and I really had a good time out there. I went back to the same pool on Monday this week. I didn't see the Salmon but there were some good rainbows at the tail of that run.
We should hit the river again, but I might have to start charging for guiding service ;D
I would like to do a canoe trip down the Westfield. Hit some of the hard to reach holes. After a great time on the Hoosic with Joe, even Sarah is willing to give it a shot. If anyone else is interested, shoot me a PM. I'm always looking to do some fishing.
-Gregg
ps- Hey Joe, did you ever find out about those ALL those dead fish in the Hoosic?

I havn't heard about any more fish kills in the Hoosic. They might of been dead stockers from upstream that washed up. I'm keeping my eyes and ears open though.
