Fife Brook Dam is letting 750 CFS out from 10 AM until midnite every day lately. Then 125 CFS from midnite until 10 AM. But upstream at Monroe Bridge there's only 80 CFS coming down. They ran it high for a few hours over the weekend.
I know the power company doesn't have total control over flows, because Mother nature will put water anywhere she dang well pleases. I also know that power generation dams are NOT flood control dams, because generation requires that the reservoir be kept at high levels, while flood control is best served by empty reservoirs. But this doesn't add up. Is the reservoir (Bear Swamp) filled to overflowing? Where is the water coming from?

1500-2000 cfs on July 1 - holy overflow, batman!
Does anyone know if they're drawing down Harriman Reservoir/Lake Whitingham? Is the 'Glory Hole' spilling over? The word 'ridiculous' keeps coming to mind.
On a sadder note, the young man who drowned in the Swift River was the son of some friends of mine. The water below the dam at Bondsville is _scary_.
Stay safe out there, it will come down to fishable levels eventually.
