Looks like the river's comin' down. There will be low flows today (if waterline is accurate - a BIG IF) - unfortunately I can't get up there 'til Monday. Big box of new flies in the vest. Hopefully they won't pull the same crap as last Memorial Day when they never lowered the water per schedule...

Sigh. High water predicted from 10 AM 'til 7 PM. Drat and confusticate!
On the bright side, we did pretty good fishing out of Rockport yesterday. Haddock, cod and cusk in the freezer.
Swift River today, maybe the East Branch...

Checked h20line today, Deerfield at Fife brook predicted to be running 2000 cfs thru thursday - did they get a lot of rain Tuesday night in southern VT? Or are they trying to lower it for the weekend?

Lots of rain came through on Tuesday.
Is the one fly contest this weekend? If it is they usually don't run water for the 2 days of that weekend.

According to H2oline there's 1000 CFS at Monroe Bridge this AM, and they're not even giving data for Fife Brook. sigh. Looks like a good weekend to tie flies and practice with the bow. Maybe hit a small stream.

Fife Brook at 2751 (!!!!!!) CFS this morning. Insane... that's 22 times normal low flow. I'm _almost_ tempted to drive up there and get a picture. I figure good flows around fourth of July.

Crabapple and Zoar outfitters are growing by leaps and bounds, the river is crawling with kayakers from dawn till dusk, and the riverbed has already been scoured clean, rendering a once great trout river essentially a put and take operation. The interests of the kayakers reign supreme, and the river flows cater to them.

It's a new year, and the same old question - will the Deerfield ever come down to 125 CFS? May 4th and it's finally running under 1000...
I'm hoping it will drop in the next few weeks, looking forward to Hendricksons.
The rivers locally- Swift and Quabog - are still howling, but the smaller streams look okay, so I'm going brookie fishing this weekend. Then again, I hear the upper Ware is doing okay...

Looks like the power company is up to their old tricks.... Sunday's report was for 900cfs. I took a drive by around 9:30am and the water was down (125cfs). Fished for an hour and then the water started coming up.

Drove along the Mohawk Trail from North Adams to Greenfield this afternoon around 2:30. Low water, and the Deerfield was crawling with guys fishing.

According to the h2oline it's been up-and-down the last few days. Anybody been there? Is the schedule anything like accurate?
Anybody seen Hendricksons on the Deerfield?

Well, I'm gambling. H2oline says it will be down this afternoon, so I'm going. What's a half a tank of gas, anyway? ;-)
