Nice fish! I have a question. Is there any way to tell if that was a stocked fish that held over or a wild one that grew and grew?It doesn't really matter because that is a hog, but I was just curious.

from march through april, stockers are usually found in a plastic grocery bag next to a worm dunker... wild browns can be identified by the broad grin they display while watching the stockers get caught.

That is rather small for a lake run brown.
Did you release it for next year's run on the Salmon???

Mark,
That brown didn't come out of the Salmon, it came out of the Hoosic!!! That's a monster. I didn't catch it, Wintershope did and he released it. I just posted the picture for him.

;D To answer questions to brutus I always use orvis braeded leaders then for big streamers I use maxama ultra green 6 and 8 pound leader,,There are flies and there are flies, but make no mistake,if you want the big boys, wieght the flies heavy I use those eye balls on my big flies they are like lead eyes Then I tie the big wooly buggers...... I never used a sinking line in my life..all the weight is incorperated in to all my flies..I have caught many big browns over the last 28 years in the hoosac and battenkill and big rainbows...But the last couple of years ive been getting in to tieing and fishing the ole classic wet flies....gota run brutus ,I would be happy to answer any more questions,Paul Gigliotti
