I've tied up some Dandelions. Those of you who were up in Lee for last year's Poker Run may remember that guy who sat in the same hole for what seemed like hours catching trout after trout. This was the pattern he was using. Here's a link to site with some good step-by-steps. I really like the tip about burning the ends of the Z-Lon- it makes it much easier to work with hipwader.com/2003/dandelion-fly-pattern

Based on the color combinations of the fly in the picture, closer to a Hendrickson.

hard to make out the exact colors in the photo, but the hackle is medium dun, the extended body is a rusty dun thread, and the body on the hook is brown thread. I would think more of march brown, darker hendrickson, even quill gordon type of imitation. On the web site I reference, he said he uses them for BWO and midge emergers. There is a lot going on with the fly though, making a lot for the fish to either key in on or be turned off by. They were definitely keyed in on something about it during the Poker Run last year.

I use my gallows attachment rather than getting out my other vise and setting it up. It work great.
If you don't have one, mount a bull dog clip to something stationary adjacent to you vise. It will work fine.
