Ok... So i have finally stepped my game up and ordered enough supplies to tie pretty much all dries and nymphs, but I really enjoy fishing Beadhead Prince Nymphs, Pheasant Tails, and so forth.
When purchasing Hooks and Beads, what is a good strategy in sizing, weight and matching beads to hooks?
Oh yea... I am still stuck on the hackle debate.... I can't seem to find a quality hackle provider. The orvis in my town has Keough tyers grade, but it seems a little price to buy a full neck.
I'll thank you guys ahead of time for the help!

When purchasing Hooks and Beads, what is a good strategy in sizing, weight and matching beads to hooks? if the bead fits past the barb and around the bend but not over the eye you're good to go the hackle debate is never ending... one thing you will find is that they are all fairly pricey, it's one of the most expensive materials you will buy, but generally if you get a good neck it will go a long way.

A good rule to follow which will answer your question on the beads is as follows:
Bead Size----->Hook Size 5/32---------->8-10 1/8----------->12-14 7/64---------->14-16 3/32---------->16-18 5/64---------->18-22
Remember that tungsten beads are substantially heavier than others.
Also be careful of "ring" style hook eyes such as those on the TMC200R. The appropriate sized beads may slip over the eye because they are not offset.
Regarding hackle, look into the Metz economy packs or the half capes.

flyfishgb:
Please keep in mind that the info that I gave you is for "proportional" sizing.
You need to consider what type of water you are fishing. If fishing faster water you will want to "oversize" the bead to get it down and for slower spring creek type water you will want to "undersize" it to keep from hanging up.
