I was wondering what is a good flow rate on the deerfield for fishing.Also how accurate is the release data.Thanks for any replies.

The best water flow for the Deerfield (in my own opinion) is 400-600 cfs in Charlemont. You can get the real time current flow from the USGS's website waterdata.usgs.gov/ma/nwis/rtJust click on the dot on the map for Charlemont. You can also get the flow data for other rivers in Massachusetts like the Hoosic and Housatonic.

If you are talking about the posted release schedule by the utility, I find it generally accurate, but not 100%. Check the line noted above, the schedule and keep your eyes open while on the water. Find a landmark in thee water that you can use to judge the level. If it starts changing you will know.

I've found that, when the water is changing you know it by sound as much as anything. It seems like the low water gurgle sounds completely different from the wooshing noising it makes when it is starting to rise and is flowing over rocks instead of between them.
