I realize that many may believe that this has nothing to do with fly fishing, however, some people (myself included), view SxS shotguns as akin to bamboo fly rods. Both are finely crafted instruments with which, here in New England, we pursue the parallel quarry of the uplands – ruffed grouse and trout. I just took delivery of my new side-by-side, the “RBL Launch Edition” by Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing Company down in New Britain. It’s been on order since 2006, and I hadn’t expected it to be finished until this time in 2009. I was pleasantly surprised when the call came a couple of weeks ago that it was ready! Now I just need to wait until Autumn!

OOOhhh That is one nice shootin iron. What chokes? What ga? Come on man , how are we going to live through you vicariously if we don't have details. I confess a weakness for nice SxS shotguns. I only have one, a beat to hell Ithaca that I paid little more than beer money for and I am sure the seller figured he was hosing me. But -- It shoots where I look, and it makes me a better shooter than I really am. We must have details! AgMD

OOOhhh That is one nice shootin iron. What chokes? What ga? Come on man , how are we going to live through you vicariously if we don't have details. It's a 20 ga. Believe it or not, the RBL Launch Edition comes with 5 screw in chokes. That upset some traditionalists.... 28" barrels, and I went with 14 1/4" LOP. CSM isn't making the Launch Edition anymore. They've shifted to the RBL-28. A 28 ga with fixed chokes.

Great looking wood. Is that standard or did you pick out the blank?
I'm also surprised to hear about the screw-ins. Game guns generally don't need them. Though I suppose with more pople -- such as the Vintagers -- shooting sporting clays there would be a demand.
Almost too pretty a gun to expose to brush and briars.

Great looking wood. Is that standard or did you pick out the blank? It's standard wood. I had the option to upgrade up to several grades higher, for a lot more $. But, since it's going to get all scratched and dinged from my bird covers, I opted to stick with the regular wood. Several people have told me I lucked out and got what appears to be a much higher grade of wood than I paid for....

If that's standard, Id like to see what the presentation grade looks like.
By the way, is a single trigger available or just the double?

By the way, is a single trigger available or just the double? I could have ordered a single trigger. You can't buy an RBL Launch Edition anymore (unless you find one for sale used). They stopped taking orders in 2006. Now all you can order is the RBL-28, the 28 ga. It comes with fixed chokes, but you could get either single or double trigger.
