We are fortunate that PETA continues to marginalize themselves by publicly presenting themselves as extreemist wacko-s. It seem that each new campain is even more bizzar, and offensive, not just to the hunters/fishers but to the general public. Their numbers are small, out of proportion to the press they recieve. Consider, do you know anyone, even among non hunters/fishers, who doesn't consider them to be just plain nuts? While we should continue to oppose them, we should be careful that our efforts do not make them look more legitimate than they deserve. If someday they start to present themselves as more rational, reasoning, and create public campains which atract the general public rather than being so incredibly offensive, -- then we must worry. That is when they may be able to make a real impact on public opinion. AgMD

Joe, I think Carlson’s arguments never really held together, and that PETA quite easily flopped off when he had the prefect opportunity to set the hook (barbed, perhaps even a treble-hook) very deep.
I am of the belief PETA knows exactly what it is doing when it issues these shocking ads. They know that they are over-the-top and will be exceptionally controversial. In fact, I’d wager that they’re counting on it! It generates news stories and keeps their name and cause in the public eye. I mean, without this ad they wouldn’t be garnering mainstream interviews like the one by MSNBC.
PETA may be very misguided, but it is a very crafty and calculating organization….

Maybe we should start being as crazy as them so we can get the press coverage. We can start our own campain. "If your Daddy doesn't fly fish, then tell DSS that he hits you. " Think I can get on MSNBC now?
