OK, I chose "Off Topic" for this post because sharking with spinning gear using 100lb test steel "shark" rigs with fresh dead eels is not exactly pristine catch and release barbless hook fly fishing. However I thought you might find this interesting and anyone can do it! The key is when the reports say sharks are in close to shore, drop what you're doing and head to the likely spots. There is a short window of opportunity when the sharks are close in. I think they may be breeding. Think the Rut in deer season and that's the time.
Five of us left Lee, MA at 5:00pm Last Wed. night for the Cape and fished a bay side beach from 9:30pm until 3:30am when we headed home (to work). We met 8 others down there and a few others on the beach already fishing.
I had one solid bait-steeling rod doubled over hit, but no hook-up. 3 guys landed and released our targets, brown sharks, in the 70lb range. The night prior, reports were that of 100lb brown sharks being landed and released with several 200lb'ers hooked, but they couldn't get em' in.

Hooked up solid and being filmed for the next American Idol, or was it The Real World. I can't recall at this time.
