If you would like to get together and tie some flies on a regular or semi-regular basis in the up coming weeks/months/winter, please respond and let me know.
I have some rough basic skills that get me by and I do fool fish with several of my creations, but I would like to learn more.
I live in South County and have some basic tools, a vice and some materials. If anyone has interest in getting together, we'll talk about where we can meet up locally.

Sounds like a good idea. I tie hundreds of flies each fall/winter to get ready for the upcoming season. Would be nice to get together with others to make the time more enjoyable. A once or twice a month designated meeting time would be a great club activity.

Thanks for your reply. We'll discuss this at the meeting 11/4. Please introduce yourself to me at the meeting. If you know of others who may be interested, please ask them to reply to this posting too.
I'm Josh Liberman and I'm presenting the Alaska Slideshow/talk at our upcoming meeting 11/4. I have some terrific information and pictures to share with the group. Please spread the word and bring some folks. Thanks.

Re: tying flies.
I had made a suggestion (board message) to think about getting a swap going. For those of us who do tie, we'll have alot of time over the Winter. Except probably for those avid hunters, like Uplander.
For those of you who aren't familiar with how one works, its quite simple. One person is assigned as the swap master who will gather all flies tied and ship them off to the participants.
The swap is given a heading or catagory of flie to be tied (caddis emergers, stonefly nymphs, etc... or even potluck where you tie what you want) and all participants tie up one fly for each one of the participants. The number is usually limited to about 15-20 people so it doesn't seem like the participants aren't production tying for the likes of Umpqua (its supposed to be fun).
Give it some thought.
I also think it might be a great idea to add a separate board to the Forum for fly tying but I'm sure Joe and Josh would have to be convinced that enough people would participate in the discussion before investing the time and money in making the website change.
Just my $.02.
Best Regards to All.

I like that idea. I'll have to mention it at the January meetings, see if we can get it going. I also was thinking about a 5 fly raffle for the meetings.

OK, there was interest in fly tying at our last meeting this past Friday. I can host some people at my house here in Great Barrington this coming week, or we can meet somewhere else. Let's pick a night next week and make it happen.
I like the idea of the fly raffle/swap at the meetings.
Gene, Fishincane, reply or call me and we'll set it up. Suggest a night next week. All are welcome to join us.

This week is tough... Leaving for Pulaski on Thursday for a few days. I wonder if there is a spot we could meet in between Adams and Great Barrington. Does the Pittsfield Library have rooms that could be checked out? I can check and see if there is interest.

I'd meet you in Pitts. I'm open to the library. Do they let you drink beer in there? -Just kidding. How about a more quiet restaurant or pub? Let me know a day next week and I'll make some calls in Pitts to see where could meet.

Thursdays or Fridays are good for me. I wounder if the Old Forge Rest/Pub would let us use their down stairs room? Are you familiar with the Forge? Great beer selection....

Just wondering if the fly swap was still on the table? I'm new here, but wouldn't mind taking a stab at a fly swap.
