OK --I'll admit it. As far as computers are concerned I am as dumb as a box of splitshot. When I log in I see that I have 1 new message. Where would I find shuch a message? Could I leave a message for someone if I wanted to?

you should be able to click on the text "1 message" which would take you to the message (or maybe it is a list and you click the subject to read it... don't recall - but one or the other should get you there).
then if you want to reply you can just click reply and type the message and the person will see that they have a message. works essentially like email...
