Went to the hudson river the other day and caught two stripers ,one 26 pounds and the other 25 pounds .we caught them on herring that we jigged in the river.man what a fight.

You fish at least an 8 wt. or were you throwing a spey rod?
Ever fish topwater for stripers?. I have heard Gartside Gurglers, typically used for Smallmouth work very well when tied in larger sizes and brighter colors.
Also, did they still have sea lice on them. If they did that means they were in for only a couple of days. Thats how long they typically take to fall off because of the change from salt to fresh water.
