Joe and I have a serious disagreement going regarding the delectability of Jack’s Hot Dog Stand in North Adams. I think it is food fit for the Gods, and Joe’s wussy stomach can’t handle it….
Just curious what others consider the best eats in the Berkshires?
I’ll list my top ten:
1. Summertime corn on the cob from Chenail’s farm stand on Luce Road in Williamstown. 2. Jack’s Hot Dog Stand, North Adams 3. Gideon’s Restaurant, North Adams 4. A pint or three of Berkshire Brewing Company beer at the Freight Yard Pub, North Adams 5. A sandwich at Papa Charlie’s, Williamstown 6. Angelina’s Sub Shop, various locations 7. Sunday brunch at Gramercy Bistro, North Adams 8. Cinnamon swirl bread from Molly’s Bakery, North Adams 9. Jae’s Inn, North Adams 10. Hickory Bill’s, North Adams

Teo's hotdogs, Berkshire pumpkin ice cream, Adams Pizza House pizza, Berkshire Brew, and those cookies from Molly's Bakery.

I like the Water St Grille in Williamstown allot.
I also have a soft spot for J& D Marina in Otis, even if the food isn't that good.

There used to be a good Mexican place inthe strip mall between Adams and North Adams - is it still there?
My favorite place on the way to the Deerfield is the Smithsonian in Hatfield, 1/2 mile from rte. 91 - best d**n burgers in the world - half pound of black angus beef cooked as rare as you want, with fresh veggies and rolls and french fries to die for. Second place to the Whately Diner off exit 24 - breakfast with the drippy-nosed fast-talking idiots at 3 AM ;-)
I will check out the spots mentioned here, thanks muchos, amigos

Ah, Teo's (and to a lesser extent, the Hot Dog Ranch). You just don't appreciate a 1/2 dozen, "meat" sauce coated, little hot dogs until you move away and can't get 'em. Wash them down with a Genny Cream ale on draft, and that's a good lunch. Whenever we go out to the Pitt to visit family, I try to get Teo's. My wife just doesn't get the appeal. It must be something in the water that makes us natives like those things so much (and there is quite a bit in the water out there, especially in the branch of the Housy right behind Teos).

Arizona Pizza, Lenox: Wood-fired gourmet pizza, calzones, and a solid supporting menu. Steel Rail Ale on tap. The hostess/owner is also a complete knock-out. Joe's Lunch Box, Pittsfield: Great Sandwiches and reasonably priced daily specials. Had a seafood lasagna there on a Friday during Lent and it was fantastic. Partridgefields, Hinsdale: Huge (I mean huge), creative, delicious sandwiches (all boar's head). Packy if you want a brew to accompany the meal at the river. Located on the headwaters of the east branch of the Housatonic (the pre-PCB Housy). Now I'm hungry.

Fish and Chips at Freight Yard or Water Street Grill (almost the same except waterstreet has the waffle fries). Really the best I've had anywhere. and don't forget the malt vinegar!
I'm amazed nobody listed Pedrins Dairy Bar. As far as I'm concerned, it ain't summer until I can get a Brown Cow Milkshake at Pedrins.
WRSI Muffins at Brewhaha - used to get them at the Miss Adams. Any muffin recipe thats been around for that long has to be good!
Until last year - donuts from Nevilles on Eagle Street. It was a very sad day when they closed that place. They had the best traditional cake donuts I've ever had.
a little out of the way, but Pumpkin Bread Pudding at the Blue Benn in Bennington. What a great place!
Molly's pumpkin whoopie pies at the Fall Foliage Parade (Brewhaha has good ones in the fall as well!)
and last but not least - eggs benedict at the chef's hat. Nothing says sunday morning like a heart attack platter!

#1 Linda's Dinner - North Adams #2 Desperados - Williamstown #3 Chef's Hat - Williamstown (good home fries) #4 Rita Maria's - Lanesboro #5 Teo's - Pittsfield and soon North Adams again!!! #6 BuggaBoo Creek - Albany (close enough, awesome food!) #7 Sagebrush (North Carolina)
I know, I'm cheating. But I had a steak at Sagebrush that was absolutely amazing. It was one of those "once in a lifetime" things that just sneak up on you.
