Flyfishinginmaine.com announces its 10th anniversary with a fly tying contest
Portland, ME, September 19, 2005 – A college computer project back in 1995 for Dan Tarkinson has turned into Maine’s premier fly fishing web site. “I never would have imagined that flyfishinginmaine.com would have turned into such a valuable resource for those who love to fly fish in Maine” said Dan Tarkinson the founder of Flyfishinginmaine.com (FFIM). The Maine based web site gets over 8000 hits a day and provides both informational resources along with its very popular forum where topics range from fishing to conservation to politics.
The 10th anniversary of the web site is being marked with a fly tying contest that is open to tyers of all abilities. “We are asking for a usable quality fly versus one that would be used strictly for display purposes” said Tim Soule, who is the site’s moderator and came up with the contest idea. “We have lined up both Temple Fork Outfitters and Chandler Pond Outfitters as the contest sponsors and they will be providing some prizes for the winner” stated Soule. The winner will be announced in early December and then a limited edition of flies will be matted and framed and auctioned off at one of FFIM’s future fundraisers. Submissions must be posted marked no later than October 31st and mailed to:
