L.L. Bean's Phone Mistake

Like most fly fishers across the country you should of received your Spring 2006 Fly Fishing Catalog from L.L. Bean. Well go get it and check out the top left corner of the first page (page 2).

The phone number for the Fly Fishing Hotline is a mistake, and in fact that number (800-LLB-FISH) is a phone sex line. The actual number is 800-347-4552 for the hotline

The phone numbers are WAY off.

800-552-3474 = what LLB-FISH dials out to be
800-347-4552 = actual Fly Fishing Hotline

Conspiracy Theory:

In a bold move to de-rail the competition, Orvis is now secretly training Industrial Spies and securing them positions deep in the infrastructure of their rival companies.

Looks like LL Bean just sent out a mass mailing to say they are sorry.... Just got this email from them.

Dear Valued L.L.Bean Customer,

The L.L.Bean Spring 2006 Fishing catalog that we recently
mailed to you contained a misprinted phone number. Our Fishing
Hotline phone number was incorrectly listed on page 2 of that
catalog. We are embarrassed by the error and apologize for any
annoyance it may have caused you. Our Fishing Hotline phone
number does appear correctly throughout the remainder of the
catalog.

The correct phone number for our L.L.Bean Fishing Hotline is
800-FISH-LLB (800-347-4552). You can call the Hotline any day
of the week, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST, for friendly service
and expert advice from our fly-fishing team.
