For all of you Bamboo and antique nuts...The Brimfield Antique shows are on tomorrow and then again later in the summer.
The Brimfield, MA antique shows currently have several vendors/booths with several bamboo rods and reels of all levels and all conditions and prices. These are antique shows with vendors that specialize in many periods, collectibles, art, watches, fishing, art glass, pottery, etc. There are many excellent project rods for asking prices from $20 - $200. Antique reels that looked like the variety flymandan has for $30 - $500 +. There were also several finished, or nearly perfect rods for $100 - $300.
One rod in particular that caught my eye was a 9' Montague Sunbeam with two tips in nearly mint condition. I think it's the same model that CTROY just picked up on EBAY. The grip did not look used (unless it was lightly sanded, and the rod finish was perect and not redone. However, two of the guides were missing in the middle section of the 3-piece rod, but the wraps were perfectly in place. The asking was $175 and the dealer told me I could have it for $150 without me even asking. I bet a $125 price could have taken it, but the buyer will have to put on the two guides which didn't look like a tough job.
Let us know if you go to Brimfield. There is a lot of good stuff there.

Thanks for the heads up. Brimfield is one of our favorite shows. We intended to go this weekend, but something has come up that prevents it.
Hoping to make the July show though. I'll have to look for some sporting collectibles while we're there....
