Color Preserver test

I ran a test (R-A-T-S!) before varnishing the thread wraps

The thread is silk. The wraps on the left have nothing on them, the middle is with a few coats of Aero Gloss and then spar urethane, and the right is with just the spar. I'm glad I did the test with/without the CP- the gold gets lost without it and the brown gets too dark. Thanks for all the advice guys.

I usually use polycrilic for Cp on rods which makes the color show up very close to the original. Some people I know have done tests with the Aero Gloss and it tends to bleed. Many multiple coats had to be used to stop that and by multiple a usual amount is 6ish so you get the picture...Where did you find the Aero Gloss? I have been looking around for about a year now with no luck.

I didn't tie that salmon fly- I'm not quite there yet

I got the aerogloss in at Pioneer Valley hobby shop on Myron St. right there in your hometown of W. Springfield. It's across from the Riverdale shops by Fran Johnson's.
