I ran a test (R-A-T-S!) before varnishing the thread wraps The thread is silk. The wraps on the left have nothing on them, the middle is with a few coats of Aero Gloss and then spar urethane, and the right is with just the spar. I'm glad I did the test with/without the CP- the gold gets lost without it and the brown gets too dark. Thanks for all the advice guys. Special thanks to-

J, I usually use polycrilic for Cp on rods which makes the color show up very close to the original. Some people I know have done tests with the Aero Gloss and it tends to bleed. Many multiple coats had to be used to stop that and by multiple a usual amount is 6ish so you get the picture...Where did you find the Aero Gloss? I have been looking around for about a year now with no luck. That is one beautiful fly you have tied there Dan my wraps cp'ed with polycrillic

Dan, I didn't tie that salmon fly- I'm not quite there yet I got the aerogloss in at Pioneer Valley hobby shop on Myron St. right there in your hometown of W. Springfield. It's across from the Riverdale shops by Fran Johnson's. Good luck on the stream today. Jeff
