Going to the the recent Bamboo Night meeting gave me the kick in the butt to get some info on an Baattenkill rod that I have, as well as to get it repaired (guide needs to be rewrapped). I just called Orvis and found out that the rod was built by Ron White in 1969. Curiously, they have it listed in their records as being a Madison, while it is defininately labeled (both rod and tube) as being a Battenkill! Hmmm?
While doing some research on this, I found a pretty good listed of Orvis serial numbers with information on the specific rods at
