Fished the lower C&R in the morning and pulled out when the rains came.
Picked up 7 nice fish (3 bows and 4 browns) all between 14"-17". Missed a hog that I watched move 10' to only refuse.
As the morning progressed, the fish kept taking smaller and smaller dries. First few fish caught on a #14 Klinkhammer of my design and closed catching on a #20 Griffith's Gnat.

Deerfield River Catch-and-Release is still ice cold and the fishing is pretty good right now. Trout were taking #20 caddis emergers and #10 A.K.'s Hoppers as the water receded. Not many guys fishing, either. Anybody seen any of the flying ants yet?
The Vermont section (near Mt. Snow) is very low and the fishing is tough. Try the Tricos on the Battenkill instead. I had good luck there a couple weeks ago. The hatch didn't materialize because of cooler weather (Tricos need an air temp of 80 degrees) but the trout were looking up and black carpenter ants did the trick.
