The Hendricksons are on!
Not many trout rising yet, but great fishing can be had during the middle of the day with nymphs. The Housatonic is low and clear today, but an inch or so of rain is predicted and showers with cooler weather is in the forecast for the next few days. This shouldn't affect the hatch too much, because once it starts, it doesn't usually stop. The trout will still be on the lookout for the nymphs every afternoon and the fishing will still be good no matter what the temperature is. High water may stop the trout from rising, but not from feeding. Historically, the Housatonic is usually about twice as high in April as it is now, so we should welcome a little rain. We'll need it come June.
