I inherited a Wright and McGill from my grandfather and would like to use it. But there is no line weight specification on it. It is a Victory, 8.5 foot, 4.5 ounce and is a number GV8642. Any help would be great.

Based on nothing but a wild guess, I would try it w/ a 6 wt but if it seems to be a robust rod for its length maybe a 7 wt. These were popular "standard weights" for years. If you can meet me in VT or N. Berkshires I have something spooled up for everything from 4 wt to 8 wt double tapers, and a 9 wt weight forward. Shoot me a PM if you like. AgMD
