Over on another thread, Steve (strbender) announced that he caught his first fish today on a fly that he tied and it got me thinking. Do you remember that first fish that you caught on your own pattern? Mine must of been the stupidest fish in the river to take that ugly pattern.
Congradulations again, Steve!!

Hatchery rainbow (what else?) on a half-assed version of the Llama streamer. On the plus side, it was in a stretch of the Westfield that several thousand of you have driven by without a second glance, only I figured out why it should hold a fish or two. hehehe I gloat I gloat I gloat...

It was a long time ago but I remember it like it was yesterday.... Caught a wild brookie on a Royal Coachman on the South Branch of the Hoosic. I even remember the exact rock he was holding near.

It was a GRHE, beaded, flashback. The fish was a stocked Rainbow But I don't care. I figure it's been 6 months and 40+ hrs of hard fishing since the last fish I caught. Joe, Thanks for the kind words.

I wish I could remember. I know I was just a kid (I'm 45 now). I know it had to be a trout out of the Hoosic where is runs along Grove St. in Adams (where I was born/raised). I know it was a trout because I didn't fish for bass with the fly rod (shame on me). It was probably a dink and I'm sure I probably had close to a heart attack as happened with a trout caught when I was young.
Thats as close as I can get.
Thanks to my great-uncle Bill for getting me started with the long rod...
Mark
