Just curious as to how you break out your flies. Do you have them in boxes arranged by type of fly, species, etc...?
I have them by type of fly... (i.e. emergers, nymphs, wets/spinners, etc...).

I have two fly wallets, one for wets and nymphs the other for streamers. Then I have a few dry fly boxes which are mostly organized by size. Small flies are in the shallow boxes in the chest pockets, bigger flies in the deeper boxes in the bigger vest pockets. Flies not in the boxes are stored in cedar cigar boxes w/ foam strips glued in them. Not too fancy a system and by week two everything gets mixed up and disorganized. AgMD

departing from the past...
used to have all organized by season but have just switched to grouping......
the catalyst was dropper rigs - orvis just introduced a holder this year but i had been considering this config over the last year....
now i pre-rig dropper combos by early season - prime season - dry/nymph combo and attractor/ midge combo.....
just wrap them around 5" of pipe foam insulation and you have 10 combos per set ready to go.... stored in baggies - its a no brainer
