Two questions:
1) Has anyone ever come across a fishing book club?
2) Would you subscribe to a fishing book club for $20 per month where you received a new book in the mail every month, valued between $25-$40? (I'm not looking for commitments, so don't worry. Just opinions)

I probably wouldn't subscribe to such a club. $20 a month is pretty close to my regular fishing budget. I would be interested in in doing some book swaps at a meeting (not a permanent exchange, but more of a mutual lending). I have a few books that I have finished reading (some several times), and think that it is a waste for them to be sitting on a shelf not being used. I also just checked out a bunch of flyfishing books from my local library. I actually was impressed with their selection. Also, most libraries in Mass. belong to a service where they can get you any book from any other subscribing library at no extra charge.

This has nothing to do with the BCFF, btw.

I joined one about 5 or 6 years ago. It was one of those "get 20 books free now, buy 10 more at regular club prices over the next 3 years" deals. All fly fishing books. They went out of business after about a year.
But, I got my 20 free books, and had bought a few (that I would have bought anyway somewhere else) before they closed up shop, so it paid off.
I don't think I'd join a $20 a month subscription-type club. I prefer more flexibility....
