Hello BCFF, We could use your help if you know of any interesting and interested subject matter experts who may be willing to volunteer for us to be a guest speaker in Pittsfield one of the upcoming months. Please let me know your ideas and suggestions. BCFF club organizers would be pleased to contact your suggestions on everyones behalf. We have a guest speaker for Sept. 12th as you know. www.berkshireflyfishing.org/index2.htmlI'll be emailing you again this coming week with a reminder. We also have a guest speaker for Dec. and we are firming up the speakers for Oct and possibly Nov. We'll be arranging additional fly tying nights in Pittsfield as well as they have been a hit for both new and experienced tyers. Please let me know your thoughts and ideas. JLIBS

Not a speaker idea -- but since we have a night for boo, hows about a night for reels -- the good, the bad and the ugly. Not just Hardy Perfects and Bougles, but maybe some of our favorites, some we hate and some that are just plain dogs. AgMD

AGMD, Good idea. We might be able to incorporate reels with Boo night. If you or anyone else know of someone who manufactures or repairs reels, etc. let us know and we'll ask them to speak for us.
Uplander, -Great website!!! Do you know the boo maker? His site is very well written and easy to understand for someone at any Boo level. Please let me know if you know him, or if I should contact him directly.
Other BCFF members, -Any other ideas? Please make suggestions.

Uplander and BCFF, I just spoke with Brandin on the telephone. He's a fanatastic guy. He generously accepted to speak to our club this January 15th. I asked if interested Boo people/members of BCFF could visit him in his shop sometime and he said he'd enjoy it.
Please continue to suggest guest speakers. Thanks.

Do you know the boo maker? Nope, don't know him. Just read about him in George Black's new book "Casting a Spell: The Bamboo Fly Rod and the American Pursuit of Perfection." He sounds like a really interesting guy, and, according to Black, when he started asking rod makers around the country to name the five greatest contemporary bamboo rod makers, "the only one on whom there seemed to be a virtual consensus was a rod maker in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, named Per Brandin." I think it's great that he'll be a BCFF speaker!
