Catching numerous Browns, good conversation and lots of learning, beer and burgers, Dean generously giving away Poker Run Fishing Tourney hats he had printed up, etc…What’s not to like? Well, for those of you that slept in, or read that strange email that Joe sent last minute and did not come out to fish, you missed out!
We had 5 members (Dan, Jim, Dean, Andy and myself) come out in the drizzle on the C&R section in Glendale on the Housy yesterday. We call caught several Browns from 12" to high teens with different techniques on about 8 different patterns from bead head nymphs, emergers, crawlers, pupae, buggers, etc. The fish were feeding frequently and the takes were very subtle. We also missed several strikes. As the day went on, the weather got better with the sun breaking out and the fishing remained on consistently.
After a great pub lunch while still wearing waders at the bar with Angus burgers and beer at the Brick Alley Pub in the center of Housatonic right on the river, we went hunting for brown trophies in the fast water below the tressle. We all caught smallies and Dean also landed a large Carp on the fly that we were all hoping was one of the resident monster browns in that section. It was still very exciting.
Thanks for the good times, the learning of various techniques and especially for Dean (The Wild Wader) keeping a close watch on me, and really the whole group, while wading across the tough stretches of river.

I just like to thank all you fair weather fishiermen The little bit of drizzle made for some great fishing. Jim we need just a little bit more noise out of you come June 2nd so we know you have one on a "Jimmy Houston" call would be nice and if you want to kiss the fish thats up to you. I will say catching that carp was the Icying on the cake. Jim can you bring the bigger net next time? I never got out of there until after 7 and the fish were starting to rise all over the water. and yes Josh I did leave a few. My only real ? is do any of these fish count for the Poker Run? I will say as long as the weather holds out the fishing should be great come June 2nd. Jim had a awesome fish pond pack so I ordered one when I got home. And city boy "Andrew" I hope you found your Eye "contact Lens" Thanks again for a great time oh yeah next time I will have a rope to get Josh back across the river. you should have seen the fear in his face..... LOL ;D

-Just got back from the C&R section again with Andrew, but this time in Lee. Caddis were rising everywhere in all sizes. Fish were splashing at the surface taking emergers and we caught a dozen browns in the 14"-15" range dead drifting very small flash back pheasant tails right on the bottom using strike indicators. The hits were very subtle. Strangely enough, the fish refused my GRHE in sizes #12 - #18 except for one fish.
In the mix after 10 browns, I was adding split shot to my leader when an 8" brookie with bright coloring and sharp fins grabbed my dropper that was barely hanging in the water right at my feet at the side of the stream not 4 feet out from the bank in shin deep water. -That's the second brookie I've taken in a week in the Housy. Prior to these brookies, I've never heard of or seen brookies in this water.

Am a new member today; found out about you through the Derby Day materials, streamside C&R Glendale; fished on 5/18 in the drizzle and caught 2 trout between 12"and 15" and one carp. Please advise more about your organization as I'm a new resident in Stockbridge.

Dear BBBBake,
Welcome. Basically, all of the club info is here on the website. We are in the process of getting better about updating the site regarding next meetings, etc.
We have periodic meetings with various topics, guest speakers, demonstrations, outings, etc.
The club is designed to be organic in nature. If you have a question or some info to share, ask or tell it to the forum. If you want to fish with members, put it out there and see who's interested. I've met and fished with several members to fish new spots and new techniques around the Berkshires.
My wife and I are transplants myself and I'd be pleased to meet you out on the water.
Best regards, JLIBS
