I've been wanting to hit the Hudson this year for some striper fishing. Does anyone have any information on where the best spots are for fly fishing?

the mouths of any decent sized creek are a good bet. The Rondout I hear is good for schoolies. Also the Croton River, in the river itself can be ok but you gotta hit em when there's a herring run. You can wade the sandbar off of the park at Croton point at dropping tides, but be careful. the bottom is all sand but just stay knee deep. Fly fishing in the Hudson is a lot tougher than smaller rivers. It's hard to find wadeable rips or areas of structure in the lower tidal area. You're really better off chucking chunks or plugs off the bottom. But try a huge moss-bunker fly, you never know...If you get bored, go fish the Croton River. If you hunt around enough, you might find some nice trout. I heard the DEC found Sea-run browns in there one year. If you are fly fishing from a boat, though, anything is possible, esp. at night.
