There was a sportsman show on Long Island this weekend. I went to it yesterday and they were selling alot of saltwater gear. Rods for 10$ lures for 3$ , Alot of great deals. Barely any Flyfishing.
Trout unlimited was also represented at the show. There was a nice man tying flies named Bill. He wore glasses. And i cant recall the name of the other fellow who was a really nice guy from Michigan. I am thinking about going back there again just to talk to those two again.
I was wearing my BERKSHIRE FLYFISHING hat and directed the men from TU to the site. They represented the long island chapter i believe and had done some restoration work on the Carmen's River. Bill showed me how to put a bead head on a hook!
There was also a trout fishing pond provided by the Cold Spring Harbor fish hatchery, people were catching 6 inch half alive rainbows.
Overall it was a pretty good show, I was hoping to see more fly fishing displays. The only fly fishing display ended up being the best in the whole place anyways
