I spoke with the President of the Onota Fishing Club of Pittsfield last night. Our members are invited to their annual game dinner this Sunday at the GEAA in Pittsfield. Tickets are I believe $15 and RSVP's are requested. If interested, please call Rick directly for more info (such as the time of the dinner because I forgot) at 413-499-3432.
The Onota Fishing Club has 40 members and has been established since 1973. While they do have a game dinner, ice fishing tounament and some other fishing derby events, they are primarily a saltwater club. They organize 4 trips a year for the salt and they rent vans/buses and get boats with Cap't's etc. for striper's, blues, cod, pollock, haddock, and other saltwater species. It sounds like a well established, interested and committed group of outdoorsmen. I have invited them to join our meetings as well, particularly with our two guest speakers/guides Jolly Roger speaking for us this coming Wednesday 12/6 at Bosquet on salt and Fred speaking about the Housy and the Farmington for fresh.
