Well I went up to Massachussetts this weekend for some trout fishing. Indeed i caught myself some trout!
My brother and I took a walk into the woods with our small stream pole insearch of the Wild Brookie. At the first stream i noticed about a 5 inch brookie hiding under some leaves and i got really excited and spooked it. But we didnt give up. I had given my brother the rod upstream and ran downstream to get my backpack which i had left downstream. I hear a loud "I GOTTTTTTTT ONEEEEEE" coming from deep in the woods. Its a full on sprint to see this. I get to my brother and he's got a Wild Brookie!!!! Caught it on a size 14 Elk Hair Caddis, 4x tippet. The funny thing is that it was about the size of my middle finger. But my what a beautiful fish. No picture though.
So we decided to head out with the satisfaction of knowing where our first Brookie Stream is. On the walk out we pass a pond and to My liking there happens the be some VERY large trout jumping flat OUT of the pond. I tie on a black wooly bugger and send it out into the pond....first cast, No luck. These fish were feeding so hard it looked like sharks feeding. Next cast i get Slammed. It ends up being a 18 Inch Rainbow. I couldn't believe it.
It seems that the Lakes in south county have recieved their Fall Stocking. I have never caught a trout in Lake Buel ever in my life. I went out fishing for Bass. I saw the biggest bass in the lake following in my Lure. But i missed her. Next cast ...... I catch myself a 14 Inch Rainbow. Looked Like a stockie because of the deformed left front fin it had.
Otherwise,
Fall + Full Moon + Fishing in the Berkshires = Excitement
Will Keep you updated with my expiditions in south county
