Hi folks - the date is fast approaching for the Vt Fish and Wildlife Dept to conduct it's public input hearing regarding the proposal to stock the Battenkill. We (Southwestern Vermont TU) encourage all lovers of wild trout to come to the meeting and voice their opposition to this plan and instead stand up for wise trout management. As a thanks for turning up to the meeting we are providing free "The Battenkill Keep it Wild" tshirts to the first 100 or so people that stop by the Orvis retail store parking lot between 6 - 6:30 next Thursday. The meeting starts at 7 - so come on down, grab a t and throw it on to show your support for wild trout. If we run out of shirts (we hope we do becasue that means a large turn out) we also have an ample supply of bumper stickers voicing support for wild trout. Check out www.tuswvt.org for all the latest info, pictures and a short video of the habitat restoration project that is in progress and learn why stocking the Battenkill is the wrong course of action. And also - thank very much for the support that has already been shown for this cause - it is greatly appreciated and will go a long way towards keeping the Battenkill wild and thriving.
