The USGS guage for the Housatonic has been DOA , MIA, or just plain not working since 6/11. I use this to decide wether I should make the trip from Springfield to go fishing, In the past I would travel west only to find the river to high. Can anyone let me know if the river is at a fishable level or is it still to high fronm the recent rains?

I'm stumped on what happened to the gauge. I usually check it out daily and don't know why they took it off. For a few days it was erased entirely from the site. Now it shows an empty circle??
Anyway, the river is perfect right now. I would call it 'normal' water level.
I was out fishing last night, the water temp was 66 degrees and there was a ton of bug activity. Not many rises though.

There was a note on the USGS site that said the gauge was not working.
Just got back from fishing Lee for an hour or so and, as oneilgonefishing notes, the river is a little high and cold, but close to normal.
Caught a couple of rainbows and smallies on nymphs. Very little bug activity and no risers.
