If you had to pick one dry, emerger, nymph and streamer for fishing in the Berkshires without factoring in the time of year, water conditions, et. al., what would they be?
Mine are:
Dry Fly: #16 Tan EHC Emerger: #14 "E2" Emerger (tied Klinkhammer style) (I developed this pattern). Nymph: #16 BH Flashback PT (gold bead) Streamer: #6 Pass Lake Special

ooops...those would be for the finger lakes...although i'd probably still take em ( a closer reading of the topic would have shortened the the woolly bugger vs purple egg sucking leech debate i had with myself)

(so what if I take the "one fly" thing literally)

dry - parachute dun with wood duck wing post, dirty tan body, dun tail & hackle nymph - PT emerger - PT tail/rear with dubbed thorax and short wings/hackle, on a 'scud' hook streamer - BH bugger, black & olive
but I'd want a couple *tiny* caddis imitations with me at all times
