Bah!
Made the trip to the Old Homestead this past weekend, hoping against hope, that the weather forecast was wrong (‘cause we all know that never happens.).
Sadly, the weather gods didn’t smile upon me, and the streams were raging, and the rain was fallin’….
With the rivers and streams gushing torrents of mocha (hey, anybody remember the old Mocha Shop with the long soda fountain type counter on Main Street, North Adams?), my brother and I opted to try fishing a backwoods beaver dam in the hopes that would be a little more fishable. It was not to be…. Water was way too high…. Only living critters we saw were an irritated mallard lifting off the beaver dam, and a surprisingly tame partridge that strutted past while we watched in amazement.
So, we headed over to Jack’s for a late breakfast. Almost better than fishing, and, being Jack's, no one batted an eye at two ruffians wet to the skin, dressed in smelly rags and wearing funny hats…. ;D
Will try again in May.

Thats why I like reading your reports uplander. You even manage to make fishing in the rain and not catching anything sound fun.

I miss the old Mocha Shop... used to go there as a kid. You can get jars of mocha sauce at the general store on main street, but you can also make it pretty easily with instant coffee and marshmallow fluff in a sauce pan. Nothing like warm mocha sauce on coffee ice cream.
