Fishing/Nature Magazines

At first I thought about restricting this inquiry to fly fishing magazines only, but then I realized that a great many nature magazines out there include fly fishing, or at least the fish themselves and/or the ecology of the uplands or ponds, lakes, rivers, and streams within their scope. So, what do you read/subscribe to for “fishing/nature” magazines?

Gray’s Sporting Journal
The Drake
Northern Woodlands

My subscription to Fly Fisherman expired recently after many years, but I won’t be renewing it. I haven’t read a worthwhile article in it for a long time….

Anybody get this one: Yale Angler’s Journal? It looks good, but I can’t bring myself to pony up the $20 never having read an issue….

My regular read is Field and Stream. I think it's a very well written magazine. I look forward to it coming each month.

I also read On The Water fishing New England. This magazine is not fly fishing only, but there is fly fishing in it. I like it not only because a Berkshire native of Lenox, MA is the producer for the TV Show (magazine and TV show), it tells you where to go and what to use and when to catch mulitple species in New England only.

Many of the fishing and hunting magazines only show Idaho, Colorado and Montana out west type locations. For most of us, this is not terribly useful.

Outdoors?? something something newspaper... Billmont's sells it and I can't remember the full name. Bill Cairns does a monthly FF'ing article in it.

If you want a real good deal on magazine subscriptions to some of the bigger publications check out EBay. Dirt cheap
