Anyone headed to NY for the April 1st opener? Are you going after any of the stocked trout here in Western Mass? If so what are your favorite spots to fish that the state stocks?

I won’t wet a line until mid-to late April at the earliest. Probably May, and won’t really enjoy it until June….
And I won't be chasing stockers.

Already started last weekend picking pockets of a tiny brook in Lancaster. 5 brookies and two browns. Beautiful little guys. Spring is here!

My season started yesterday( Sun.) Tried out the Y-pool at the Swift for the first time. Alot of people fishing, not alot of people catching. I managed one rainbow, about 7 inches from the tail of the y-pool. I saw him rise a few times, and got him on a size 22 grifiths gnat. Saw plenty of BIG fish at the head of the pool, just no takers.
With the weather we expect this week, hopefully I can get out to either the Deerfield or the Housatonic this weekend.

I've got to get out to that Y-pool and give it a try. I always read good reports about it on VFS.

Started this past Sunday got one beautiful 10" wild brown. Felt great to see that fish swim away after a brief inspection. See you on the water.

I've been out two times in below freezing temps with wind. -Not a good combo for fly fishing. I froze my fingers and iced my line so much i had to wrap it up around my arm and bring it home to get it thawed out and back on the reel!
I had one on and lost it. Then I made a terrible tangle, layed my rod down and stepped on it and broke it in half. Can anyone relate? This is not a joke! I fe;t pretty bad, but it's under warranty fortunately. I'll get my rust out soon enough.
I start with still water until I feel the fish come out from under tha banks, or where ever they hide in the brooks in thw winter.
