Caught my first fish Sunday night on the Housy. near work. A nice fat 12 inch rainbow. The river flow is great, water temp 54 degrees and overcast skies. The conditions are starting to get good so get out there guys.
Kim, I hope to catch up with you soon, Maybe in the next couple weeks.
First fish on my new vintage Pflueger Golden West Bulldog reel. What a beautiful sound it makes when the fish takes out some line.
Happy fishing!!!

I myself need to get out AGAIN before to long. My plan is to wet a line at least once if not more then that this long weekend. 6wt, you around this weekend, or are you @ the Cape?

Henry, Good for you!!! Sounds like the Golden West is as nice as we expected it to be. The Hoosic has been a bit high with periods of WAY high for the last few weeks. The one period of reasonably low water I was with out a vehicle. The Subie is dead -- long live the Subie. The new fish mobile is an Outback. I will be assisting with some Trout 101 classes at Orvis this weekend -- as a TU volunteer and as a way of developing my teaching chops so that I can be a decent instructor for the Orvis Fishing School. I went through the Instructors Training School and they are calling me an instructor but I am really more like a trainee. It is a part time thing, filling in on weekends when they need an extra hand. It is a lot of fun but the school rod is a Helios -- 8 1/2 foot and only 2 1/8 oz. ( a truly marvellous instrument) and I have been fishing bamboo almost exclusively for two decades. Casts like a totally different animal. They let me borrow one --So --I have to learn how to cast all over again. Which is good. I have managed to pick up some bad habits which need to be addressed. Since I will be up that way, I might wet a line in the Battenkill -- if the water is decent. If we don't get any more rain I expect it will drop enough so that it will be OK. Good fishin' for all of you on the big weekend!! AgMD
