Hi All;
My first post- glad to find this forum. I have been out on the water a half dozen times or so in the past two weeks. Got myself some fancy new waders that were just itching to get wet.
Konkapot below the confluence with the Umpachenee- one hook up on a bead head prince but I lost him! ( I know this stretch really doesn't require waders but I almost always baptize any new gear at Umpachenee because I learned to fish there) Lots of black stoneflies.
Green river below rt 23 in GB-skunked. Minimal hatching.
Glendale CnR- skunked.
Williams River below Old Maid's Hole- skunked again!
Konkapot again, below the bridge leading to the falls parking area. Splashy rises and thick stonefly hatch. Used a sparse black emerger pattern to take a medium rainbow and smallish brown.
Glendale CnR- despite a good hatch of stoneflies and what I think were some BWOs I got skunked. I did hook-up once using a last resort 'Royal Humpy'?(big black and red bodied dry) but, once again, I lost him.
Glendale CnR- Friday 3/30 late afternoon to dusk ... took an average brown( I think he may have been a new stock) who was rising around the side of a big rock on an indicator/parachute brown bodied dry- I forget the darn name. Midge hatch was so thick I was breathing them.
Glendale CnR- today- just got back. Saw a few kids spin fishing from the big easy rock right at the trail from the lot. I took one stocky looking brown(and lost another) on a #18 March Brown wet.
The waders are working great- my fish handling skills not so great.
Tight Lines.

No Berkshires yet. Still need my Mass license. My desktop died and I need a pc with a printer, then I'll be over. Took a few browns including a 21" on the ny section of the Battenkill a few weeks back. Been down to the Delaware twice, first trip did well on nymphs and took my son down last Friday, 3/23 as he was home from college and we took a dozen fish to 19" on dries (18# blue quills). Earliest dry fly fishing ever for me. Headed back tomorrow for a solo trip ;D Hendricksons are on. My waders - not so good - I have a leak in the heel I can't quite figure out

Ghost, Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have done a bit of fishin already. I am just a bit envious. Here, the near water is only a bit high but the season is still closed 'till the second Sat. The water in NY opened on the 1st. If the weather pattern stays decent, I expect to thrash the waters there this weekend. Henry, let us know how you do. Once the fish wake up and get active, perhaps end of April beginning of May, how about a get-to-gether? Do a little fishing and a stream side bread and cheese? Phil, keep us posted when you go out let us know how you do. AgMD

Didn't get out this week. Morning temps in the 20's and low 30's. Maybe next week. Rain forcasted for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We could use it. The river is very low for this time of year.

Fished the Wallomsac in NY this last Sun. Nice hatch of Hendricksons, some caddis and what might have been BWO's. Not a single rise to be seen. Fished wet flies and streamers but the fish were not interested. Water temp. 48*F very low and clear. About what I would expect in early August. AgMD

I watched the forcast for the end of this week and weekend. the temps are going to be great, with no rain, though we need it bad. I'm excited about the temps, and usually I would be the same for the no rain. Because in the past, the rivers are usually busting, and very high at this time, but so far this is not the case. We need rain! Anyway, with a temp forcast like it is, I think I'll try and get out and finally wet a line over the next few days.

I just took one of my new fishing guides fishing, we went and took a canoe down the Westfield river, Put in off Rt 20 on the Westfield / West Springfield town line. We paddled down through some easy class 1 rapids and settled in to fish we caught 4 - 15"+ bows on our (TMO Killers) and shared an hour with a bald eagle watching us. Good day on the river. God blessed this great place we live.

Got to the Deerfield river around 5pm last night. Talked to a local guy who fishes there alot. He said that afternoons have been better than the evenings. He also said that because of the lack of water that the dam would only let water out at 800 for 3 hours a day, which should make for some good fishing once the water temps rise. The water temp was only 44 degrees and air temp low 50's. Didn't catch any, see any bugs hatching, or any rises. I did see some fish in a few pockets, but they wouldn't take anything I was throwing that usually work well in the Deerfield. All in all it was good to be outside and in the river for the first time this year.
