Well I finally bought a new fly rod that I’ve been pondering over for the past 6 months or so. I was really set on a 7’6” 4pc 5wt that a lot of reputable companies don’t make. I really like the Winston Fly rod line, and my father bought a Winston Passport in 9’ 4wt. I really liked the feel and action of that Passport model, but that model doesn’t come in the 7’6” 5wt that I was interested in. The next model up from that one does come in those spec’s, which I hated the extremely plain maple reel seat on that VSL model. I know nice looking reel seats don’t catch fish, though it has to at least appeal to my eyes as good as it cast in hand as well. So I started looking at the replaced Winston Vapor model which are made in the length & weight that I was really looking for, as well as most are marked down on its price because they aren’t making that model anymore. Plenty of offical Winston Dealers had/have these Vapor models in stock which they are looking to sell off. Well long story short, I bought a Vapor in those specs last week, and it arrived today. I haven’t tried it on the water yet, though I frozen lawn casted it, and it seems pretty nice. Anyway, hello springtime 2012 .......DRYFLYPHIL
