For work, I was up in the Monroe Bridge Mass. area along the upper Deerfield river / Fife Brook and man did Hurricane Irene change the rivers up there! This area & river was know as one of the fly fishing crown jewels of the state, and I hope the damage done doesn't change it negatively. I guess time will tell ......DRYFLYPHIL

I fished the Carbis Bend area last week and did pretty well: 5 fish in 3 hours. Four were rainbows that seemed recently stocked, but the fifth was a big, beautiful Deerfield brown that looked awfully wild. The streamside damage was actually not as intense as I thought it might be, at least compared to stretches further upstream that got totally wiped out. I guess we won't really know how severe the damage is for a long time yet. I'm praying the wild fish hold their own.
