Every year has it's times of high water or warm water but this year has got to be one for the record books. When the rivers were high they stayed high for weeks at a time. My Hoosic was too warm for C&R for almost a month and now the rivers are still blown out from Irene and the storms that followed. Last week I saw water POURING out of the hill sides where there are no springs. If we don't get much rain in the next few days, the Walloomsac might be OK this weekend but the ground is so wet that any rain is likely to run straight into the rivers. I think we should all give up on this fly fishin thing and take up white water rafting. AgMD

I'm with you. I never made it down for my Catskill trips this spring because of high water and timing with work. I told you guys about my White River mis-adventure (high water) - then the heat came so I moved over to summer bass waiting for fall and now it's a mess. This is my leanest year of all time.
Still, I'm still alive, my house is still standing, I still have my job, and my basement never flooded so I'm lucky in that respect. Trout fishing will return when the time is right. Hopefully, soon.
There's always steelhead not to far down the road.
AgMD - If the streams ever recede over there and you're ever looking for some company let me know. My fly-fishing partner (son) is away at college so I'm solo till ice up.

Bartman, Looks like the Landlocked Salmon are running so for the next few weeks I will be in total freek out mode. This is my equivalent of your steelhead fishing. I'll let folks know how we do. AgMD
