I had seen some mumblings about this on the fly fishing boards but I had no idea of how bad it really is. Not until two weeks ago when I tried to order a slate grey dun cape from Anglers Workshop -- they are never out of stock on anything. I was told there are NO capes. Except for a few unusual colors there were no capes of any kind, any brand, any grade, any color. He did have some necks although choice was becoming limited. He said he would look around and if he found anything that looked like it might serve, he would send it to me. He found nothing. I understand that the situation is pretty much the same everywhere. I can only hope that this is only a short lived fad and that by next fall no one will be caught dead with feathers in their hair. AgMD

Your about 6 months late to the party ;D I know some tiers who have cashed in their supply of dry saddle hackles. Some are fetching over $400 Most of mine are the larger streamer saddles so I'm not selling. Channel 5 did a segment on this on their show Chronicle. The hair dresser said they charge $25 per feather extensions. That averages out to over $6,000 for a complete dry saddle hackle Who says the economy is in the dumps
