Well, the weekend is/was finally a decent one for the most part. Did anyone get out and wet a fly anywhere?
Just curious.........DRYFLYPHIL

I fished all three branches of the Hoosic yesterday.
Nothing on the South Branch.
Had a 14 inch brown taunt me by swimming all around and even between my feet on the Main Branch by West Package Store.
Finally managed to land a 12 inch rainbow on the North Branch by the Eclipse Mill.

Went out yesterday with my son and picked on some bluegills and one very small largemouth. Went to the Chesterfield Gorge this am. Didn't catch or see anything. There was a big midge hatch going on, with lots of tiny (~size 22-24) bugs in the air. Unfortunately, there is a substantial blow down across the road about 1/4 mile below the gorge, so you really can't drive down too far. I then gave a try upstream on the East Branch of the Westfield along rt 9 in Cummington. I caught a ~16 inch bow, and hooked and list two others. There were to different caddis coming off- a sporadic ~size 10 dark one, and a denser hatch of ~size 14 tan. All in all, a beautiful weekend on the water!

Fished the Hoosic in VT Sun. afternoon. The river was moving a bit fast, 412 CFS and is still a bit cold at 50*F so I really had little hope of seeing any fish. Saw some caddis flying up stream. Fished soft hackle wets and small streamers. Nothin'. But --- if the rain will back off for a bit the rivers will drop to a very pleasant level and they will warm up enough to put the fish on the feed. AgMD
